Arrest in Home Invasion and Shooting

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested Khalin Bryant, DOB 2/17/95, in connection with a home invasion and shooting Friday night on New England Street in Sarasota.

Detectives determined that Bryant was one of two men that barged into the home and demanded money at gunpoint from two teens who were there. The suspects battered the victims and Bryant shot the father of one of the victims when he entered the room to try to disarm Bryant. The shooting victim was treated at the hospital and released.

Bryant is charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, Armed Burglary and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. He was booked yesterday into the Sarasota County Jail and transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Detectives are currently searching for the second suspect.
