Sex Offender Registration

                                                                                                               NEWS RELEASE #: 17-013 - JANUARY 18, 2017

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is advising the public that Robert Clemmons, DOB 01/30/83, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.

Clemmons was convicted of Obscene Communication: Traveling to Meet a Minor in 2016 in Sarasota County. He was sentenced to sex offender probation in addition to time served in the Sarasota County jail. He has prior arrests in Sarasota County including Domestic Battery. Clemmons was just released and reports his address will be at the intersection of University Parkway and North Washington Boulevard in Sarasota. The registration of a "location" and not a physical address is allowable by Florida law for homeless or transient persons, but a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff's office every 30 days. Clemmons is currently under the supervision of the Department of Corrections until 2022 and is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school, childcare facility, park or playground.

This information is posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office website, agency Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, when moving into the county or following a release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offenders and predator registrations.
