NEWS RELEASE 18-195 - NOVEMBER 29, 2018
Gaertner, Jeremiah

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old Sarasota man Thursday after an investigation and subsequent search warrant revealed he was downloading child pornography.

Detectives obtained information using internet tools designed by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), which identified a specific IP address in Sarasota County used to store and share files containing child pornography. Detectives confirmed the IP address was leased to 1329 Western Pine Circle, and obtained a search warrant for the property. Through investigation, detectives learned that Jeremiah Gaertner, DOB 12/01/98, was living at the home. During a search of the property and forensic scan of a digital device he possessed, detectives discovered 40 images determined to be child pornography.

Gaertner was arrested and taken to the Sarasota County Jail where he is charged with a single count of Transmission of Child Pornography and forty counts of Possession of Child Pornography. He remains in custody without bond while the investigation continues. Additional charges are pending.
