Heroin Trafficking Arrest

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a Sarasota man on felony drug charges after he sold undercover detectives heroin, cocaine and prescription pills.

The investigation began late last week when Brent Henson, DOB 04/02/88, sold Special Investigation Section detectives heroin on Thursday and Friday. On Tuesday night around 5:00 p.m., detectives met with Henson once more to purchase additional heroin, cocaine and Alprazolam (a schedule IV controlled substance) out of Henson's home located at 3100 Hawthorne Street, Lot 90. Detectives conducted surveillance after the sale and watched Henson leave his home, only to return a short time later in the backseat of a cab. A felony traffic stop was initiated and Henson was taken into custody where detectives seized 20 Alprazolam pills, syringes, a glass pipe, metal grinder, and a spoon with powder residue on it. As detectives checked the backseat of the vehicle, they also seized a cigar package containing close to 8 grams of heroin, more than 3 grams of cocaine, and a small amount of marijuana.

Henson has several prior arrests for several drug crimes including Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Sell. On Tuesday evening, he was booked into the Sarasota County jail on charges of Trafficking in Heroin, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell, Possession of Alprazolam with Intent to Sell, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, two counts of Sale of Heroin, Sale of Heroin within 1,000 feet of a Convenience Store, Sale of Cocaine, and Sale of Alprazolam. He remains in custody today without bond.
