Sex Offender Registration

NEWS RELEASE 18-072 - APRIL 10, 2018
Paine, Michael

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is advising the public that Michael Paul Paine (aka: Michael Paul Gange), DOB 01/04/71, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.

Paine was convicted of Travelling to Meet a Minor to Commit an Unlawful Sexual Offense and Sending Minor Harmful Information in Pinellas County in 2015. Paine was just released from prison and has registered as a transient living in the area of 1st Street and Orange Avenue in Sarasota. The registration of a “location” and not a physical address is allowable under the Florida law for homeless or transient persons. However, effective July 1, 2014, a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff’s office every 30 days. Paine is not currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections, and in accordance with Florida law, residency restrictions do not apply.

This information is posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office website, agency Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, when moving into the county, or following a release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offender and predator registrations.
