The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 74-year-old Venice man on Thursday for Possession of Child Pornography.
Detectives acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children determined a particular IP address was used to download multiple files previously identified as containing child pornography. Detectives confirmed the IP address was leased to 510 West Baffin Drive in Venice and obtained a search warrant for the property. Through investigation, detectives learned that Hartley Haines, DOB 08/09/43, was living at the home. During a search of the property and forensic scan of his computer, detectives discovered 40 images all determined to be child pornography.
Haines was taken into custody and charged with 40 felony counts of Possession: Sexual Performance by a Child. He was released Saturday on $80,000 bond.
