Man Charged in Connection with Shooting

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after he fired a weapon at a moving vehicle on Sunday just after 8:00 p.m. in Sarasota.

Deputies initially responded to the 2600 block of 24th Street after the victim flagged down deputies to report his nephew, Stacy Bartley, DOB 01/01/96, fired a weapon at his vehicle while he was leaving a nearby residence. During the investigation, forensic technicians located four .40 caliber bullet casings at the scene and one .40 caliber projectile in the trunk of the victim’s vehicle.

Bartley, a convicted felon with prior arrests for Aggravated Battery and various drug crimes, was arrested and taken to the Sarasota County Jail. He is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Shooting into a Vehicle, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is being held on $175,000 bond.
