Computer Donation

Lieutenant Jon Varley, Detectives Jim Klay, Mark Micale and Kim Northfield, Sergeant Shawn Johnson, and Detective Eric Wedin.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office today donated 10 computers to the Venice YMCA.

The computers were seized during investigations into illegal internet gambling cafes throughout Sarasota County and prior to the donation, cleaned by digital forensic technicians. The 10 computers will be repurposed and placed at two sunshine education academy campuses in Venice, supporting both administrative and classroom needs.

“We are very proud of our continued partnership with the YMCA,” said Sheriff Tom Knight. “By taking electronics seized from criminals to support the outstanding mission of this organization, we’re setting an example of what it means to truly invest in our community.”
