The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a Sarasota man for felony drug possession after a traffic stop led deputies to the discovery of 27 grams of cocaine.

Deputies conducting foot patrol near Superior Avenue and Mall Drive in the Gulf Gate area of Sarasota, first made contact with Jose Delgadillo, DOB 01/22/95, around 12:30 a.m., Thursday morning. Delgadillo, who was driving a motorcycle, sped past deputies after they instructed him to stop. When the motorcycle stalled at a nearby intersection, Delgadillo tossed a baggie containing 27 grams of cocaine into the roadway. Deputies seized the drugs and while booking Delgadillo into the Sarasota County Jail, located another small bag of cocaine hidden in his sock.

Delgadillo, of 501 N. Conrad Avenue, is charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell, Possession of Narcotics Equipment and Smuggling Contraband into a Detention Facility. He was released early Thursday morning on $9,500 bond.
