Armed Robbery

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to identify a suspect who robbed a Nokomis convenience store early Sunday morning.

Deputies responded to the report of an armed robbery at the RaceTrac located at 410 N. Tamiami Trail, just after midnight. According to the clerk, the suspect entered the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes. When the clerk turned around, the suspect revealed a gun and demanded cash. The clerk complied and the suspect left the store on foot walking northbound toward Spencer Avenue. Patrol deputies, with assistance from K-9 and Aviation Units, established a perimeter and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. A surveillance photo was released on the agency's social media accounts early Sunday morning.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20's or early 30's, approximately 5'8" tall, 170 lbs., with a short brown beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a Tampa Bay Rays t-shirt, camouflage shorts, beige hat, and loafer style shoes. He was also carrying a dark-colored backpack.
