Sarasota Man Charged with Attempted Murder

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 22-year-old convicted felon for Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery after an altercation resulted in his girlfriend being shot.

Deputies responded to 1927 Sanford Circle at approximately 1:25 p.m., Monday, for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, the victim was laying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Investigation revealed when the victim's ex-boyfriend, Christopher Hunt, DOB 10/02/95, arrived at her residence, the victim's boyfriend, Ja'corey Davis, DOB 04/22/94, fired a loaded gun at Hunt, but missed him. In an attempt to separate the men, the victim stepped in between them and was subsequently shot in the back by Davis. The 22-year-old victim was transported to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Detectives charged Davis with the Attempted Murder of Christopher Hunt as well as Aggravated Battery with a Firearm for the injury he caused to his girlfriend. Davis is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bond. He was released from prison in April 2015 after being sentenced to four years for Armed Robbery in Manatee County. The investigation in continuing and additional charges are pending.
