NEWS RELEASE #: 16-094
A Sarasota man who was arrested in July 2015 by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office on multiple sex charges has been sentenced to life in prison.
Detectives arrested 48-year-old Mark Wyman, after three girls under the age of 12 reported Wyman had touched them inappropriately. During the investigation, detectives learned that the victims were molested while visiting Wyman's home and swimming in his pool. Detectives charged him with Capital Sexual Battery and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation of a Victim under 12.
State Attorney Ed Brodsky says Wyman was found guilty today of five counts of Capital Sexual Battery on a Child Under 12 and five counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation on a Child Under 12. He was sentenced to a total of 10 life sentences and designated a sexual predator. Special thank you to the State Attorney's Office and the detectives who worked tirelessly on this case.
