Assistance Identifying Burglary Suspect

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for assistance identifying a man who broke into a women's apparel store on Friday, June 3, in Sarasota.

Deputies were called to Draper's & Damon's, 4820 S. Tamiami Trail, at approximately 9:00 p.m., when management alerted them to an alarm going off afterhours. Surveillance video obtained from the rear of the business captured the suspect rummaging through bank deposit bags, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash. Detectives describe the suspect as a white male with a medium build, approximately 5'11" tall, with very distinguished dark facial hair often referred to as a chin strap. The suspect is believed to be in his late 30s, and at the time of the burglary, wore a Salt Life t-shirt, denim or camouflage shorts, dark hat and dark sneakers.
