Deputies Arrest Woman Passed Out Behind the Wheel

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a Sarasota woman on a dozen felony drug charges after they found her passed out in the driver's seat of her vehicle a few blocks away from her home.

Deputies were called to the 3600 block of Country Place Blvd., Sarasota, early Monday at approximately 5:16 a.m., for reports of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road with its engine running and lights on. When deputies approached the driver's seat they discovered 37-year-old Veronica Posey, DOB 02/15/79, passed out, with nearly 26 prescription pills in her lap. Upon further search of her vehicle, deputies seized additional prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and cocaine residue. The drugs included Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, Alprazolam, Amphetamine, Dextroamphetamine, and Buprenorphine Hydrochloride.

Posey, of 3819 Countryside Lane, is charged with 11 counts of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Narcotics Equipment. This is Posey's 30th arrest in Sarasota County. Her extensive arrest history includes DUI, Issuance of a Worthless Check and dozens of drug charges. Posey was released Monday on $18,500 bond.
