The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the District 12 Medical Examiner's Office, is investigating the death of an inmate at the Sarasota County Jail.

On Tuesday evening at approximately 6:08 p.m., corrections personnel discovered Judy Lamb, DOB 05/05/60, of Nokomis, unresponsive in her jail cell from an apparent suicide. Personnel administered CPR before she was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Lamb was taken into custody Monday morning for Animal Cruelty in connection with the death of a 7-pound dog in Nokomis on June 27. Her prior arrest history includes charges of Aggravated Battery, DUI and Violation of Probation. The investigation is ongoing.
