Sarasota Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges While Playing Pokemon Go

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on a series of charges after deputies discovered large quantities of drugs in his car while he was playing the popular game Pokémon Go, at a Sarasota County park.

Deputies in the area of Urfer Park early Monday morning around midnight, made contact with a parked car when they smelled the distinct odor of marijuana. As deputies approached 20-year-old Guillermo Cava-Nunez, he explained that he was meeting his girlfriend to play the game at the park. When Cava-Nunez agreed to a search of his vehicle, deputies discovered more than 66 Xanax bars, more than 6 grams of marijuana, 2 grams of hash oil, just under a gram of cocaine, rolling papers and a scale. Cava-Nunez was cooperative and admitted that the drugs were his.

Cava-Nunez, DOB 05/14/96, of 3450 Coronado Drive, Apt. 1304, is charged with Possession of a Xanax with Intent to Sell, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana/Hash Oil, Possession of Marijuana Less than 20 grams and Possession of Paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $11,500 bond.
