Sheriff's Office Hosts Communications Job Fair

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is hosting a job fair to recruit Communications Operators for the Emergency Operations Bureau.

The job fair will be held on Saturday, October 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center, located at 6050 Porter Way, Sarasota. Interested candidates must bring a completed application and plan on spending two hours in the Public Safety Communications Center (PSC). This streamlined process allows qualified applicants to spend an observation period shadowing a calltaker followed by an immediate in-person interview.

The following qualifications must be met by all applicants:
- At least a High School Diploma or G.E.D. (less than 60 college credits requires TABE test).
- Must be in compliance with drug, tobacco and tattoo policy.
- Must pass Oral Board interview.
- Must submit to a complete background investigation, polygraph and psychological evaluation and found to be of good moral character.

Starting salary is $31,836 and can go up to $37,762 with acceptable prior experience. Operators are offered an additional $1200 per year for night shift differential.
