Woman with Child Overdoses in Convenience Store Bathroom

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a Sarasota woman Friday night after she was found unconscious from a heroin overdose in a convenience store bathroom, with a 4-year-old child present.

Deputies were called to WaWa, 3703 N. Washington Blvd., Sarasota, just after 7:15 p.m., for a possible overdose. According to the store manager, 30-year-old Amanda Riley entered the store with a small child and went directly to the restroom where she was located five minutes later unresponsive. Riley was transported to the hospital where she later admitted to buying heroin in north Sarasota earlier that night before injecting it while inside the store's bathroom. The 4-year-old child was found safe and placed into the custody of relatives.

Riley, DOB 12/13/85, of 2845 Stoneland Lane, Sarasota, is charged with felony Child Neglect without Great Bodily Harm. She was placed on supervised release early Saturday morning.
