                                                                                                               NEWS RELEASE #: 16-221 - DECEMBER 5, 2016

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a Nokomis woman Friday morning for Child Neglect after a 2-year-old child who was in her care, was found alone alongside a busy roadway.

Deputies were called to 710 Bayshore Road in Nokomis around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, after a citizen located a toddler wearing only a soiled diaper, standing on the side of the road. Just as the Good Samaritan picked up the child, a family member arrived, took custody of the toddler and contacted law enforcement. Deputies responded to the home of 22-year-old Gianna Boults, who admitted to falling asleep while watching the child. While deputies were inside Boult's home, they observed more than 20 uncapped syringes in plain view as well as exposed wires and barely any food in the refrigerator. Boults admitted that she was unable to care for the child due to her drug use.

Boults, DOB 04/05/94, was arrested and charged with felony Child Neglect without Great Bodily Harm. She was placed on supervised release early Saturday morning.
