St. Petersburg Trio Arrested, Tied to Southwest Florida Car Burglaries

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested two men and a teen from St. Petersburg on Thursday, after detectives found them inside a stolen car in Sarasota.

Detectives conducting surveillance in the area of 25th Street and Lemon Avenue around noon on Thursday, came across a vehicle in the same parking spot where stolen cars have been recovered in the past few months. When detectives ran the license plate, it came back stolen out of Indian Shores. With assistance from the Sarasota Police Department, deputies made contact with the driver, Steven Fields, and passengers' Bryant Daniels and Cory Kendrick. As they were taken into custody, deputies discovered 13 Acetaminophen and Oxycodone pills in Field's pocket. All three were arrested and taken to the Sarasota County Jail. Further investigation revealed that the trio gained access to the stolen car after the victim left the doors unlocked with a spare key in the vehicle's glove compartment.

Fields, DOB 6/10/92, is charged with Vehicle Theft and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is currently being held on $3,000 bond. Daniels, DOB 02/19/97, and Kendrick, DOB 04/04/00, were each charged with Trespassing. Daniels remains in custody on $120 bond and Kendrick was released to the Department of Juvenile Justice. This investigation come less than a week after detectives arrested three others from the Pinellas County area for similar crimes in Venice.
