Sexual Offender Registration

News Release #: 16-001

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is advising the public that Kenneth Scott Shepard, DOB 09/26/1965, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.

Shepard was convicted of Strong Arm Rape in Massachusetts in 1988. In 2007, after moving to Florida, he failed to register as a Sex Offender in Okeechobee County and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Shepard just moved to Sarasota County and has registered as a transient living in the area of Main Street and U.S. 301 in Sarasota. The registration of a "location" and not a physical address is allowable by Florida law for homeless or transient persons, but a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff's office every 30 days.

This information is posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office web site, agency Facebook page and Twitter account to publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, when moving into the county or following release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offender and predator registrations.
