Seven Stores Cited for Underage Alcohol Sales

Seven local convenience store clerks were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during an undercover operation conducted by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Juvenile Alcohol Task Force (JATF).

On Friday, March 28, deputies, with the assistance of officer from the Sarasota Police Department, visited 67 convenience stores in Sarasota, Venice and Nokomis and found 60 locations to be in compliance. Those businesses will receive a letter thanking them for their diligence in reducing the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors. Seven stores were in violation of selling alcohol to a person under 21, and their clerks received a misdemeanor Notice to Appear. Those locations were:

  1. Mobil, 2525 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
  2. Sunoco, 3138 17th Street, Sarasota
  3. Palmer Market, 5300 Clark Road, Sarasota
  4. BP, 3605 Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota
  5. 7-Eleven, 1240 Venice Avenue, Venice
  6. Hess Express, 350 Commercial Court, Venice
  7. Circle K, 1848 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice

The results of this operation were forwarded to the Florida Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, Department of Business & Professional Regulation, which licenses alcohol sales at each establishment.
