Fiscal Services Director


The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applicants for a Fiscal Services Director. This position reports to the Administrative Division Major and oversees the fiscal and accounting functions of the Sheriff’s Office.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to budgeting, financial reporting including preparation of the annual audited financial statements, federal, state and local statutory reporting, treasury, grants management and internal financial controls.  This position will efficiently manage fiscal resources in conjunction with agency policy and goals within the constraints of the adopted budget and federal, state and county law.  This position requires interaction with Board of County Commissioners staff and the staff of other constitutional officers.  Applicant should have a good understanding of both state and federal statutes dealing with finance and financial reporting requirements.    Candidate will be expected to develop cost saving methods, conduct cost saving analysis and prepare year to year comparisons.  This position may require presentations to other governmental or community organizations on budgetary issues.   Preference will be given to candidates who possess knowledge of Florida State Statute Chapter 30 and have experience with administering the financial aspects of health care plans. 

Requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s degree with major studies in accounting, business administration or closely related curriculum, a minimum of 7 years of related work experience, proficiency with ERP computer systems and Microsoft Office applications, strong analytical and communication skills and prior supervisory experience.  A CPA or MBA designation is highly preferred.  Previous experience in governmental accounting is a plus.  Salary:  $99,275.  Plus benefits.
