The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office will be hosting an event in March to recruit Communications Operators for the Emergency Operations Bureau.
The job fair will be held on Saturday, March 11, at the Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center, 6050 Porter Way, Sarasota. Interested candidates must bring a completed application and plan on spending two hours in the Public Safety Communications Center (PSC). This streamlined process allows qualified applicants to spend an observation period shadowing a call taker followed by an immediate in-person interview.
The following qualifications must be met by all applicants:
- At least a High School Diploma or G.E.D. (less than 60 college credits requires TABE test).
- Must be in compliance with drug, tobacco and tattoo policy.
- Must pass Oral Board interview.
- Must submit to a complete background investigation, polygraph and psychological evaluation and found to be of good moral character.
Operator 3 - Call Taker: Pay Grade 10, $31,836 (up to $37,762 with acceptable prior experience.) Operator 2 - Call Taker/Law or Fire Radio: Pay Grade 12, $34,755. Operator 1 - Call Taker and Both Law and Fire Radio: Pay Grade 14, $38,734.
