Special K
If you notice a person has passed out,
get medical attention immediately, call 911, or they may die!
Special K (Ketamine Hydrochloride) is used as a
surgical anesthetic (central nervous system depressant) for animals in a
veterinary clinic. It comes in a liquid or powder form that is snorted or
smoked with marijuana or tobacco products. Special K users experience
hallucinations and visual distortions similar to the effects of PCP. It can
also cause delirium, amnesia, impaired motor function, high blood pressure,
depression, flash backs, and fatal respiratory problems.
Special K is especially dangerous when mixed with
alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant, and mixed with an anesthetic can shut down
the heart or respiratory system. If anyone you are with loses consciousness
or passes out, seek immediate medical attention, or they may slip into a
coma and die.
When a depressant drug is mixed with alcohol, bodily functions,
such as breathing and heart rate, can shut down causing death. Other drugs,
such as stimulants and hallucinogenics, can cause an increased heart rate,
but when mixed with alcohol, can lead to nervous system disruption,
respiratory failure, heart attack, and death.
Please know that: Law Enforcement does not monitor emergency rooms and hospitals are not required to report drug overdoses to Law Enforcement.
If someone has become passed out it is important to get them medical attention immediately!
Call 911 immediately, or get the individual to an emergency room.
